Today is a GREAT day to be a Wizard! The Windsor High School boys’ golf team, which makes its home at Pelican Lakes, finished runner-up in the Class 4A state tournament held at City Park Golf Course in Denver, and senior Brentyn Paiz won medalist honors! Windsor’s two-day team score of 445 (25-over) was 9 strokes back of state champion Riverdale Ridge. Cheyenne Mountain and Silver Creek tied for third with a 447 (27-over). Paiz entered the second day of play two strokes off the lead and shot a 67 (3-under) today to secure the top spot by two over Falcon’s Reese Knox. Paiz finished with a 138 (2-under) and became the first male or female golfer at Windsor to capture the individual state title. It’s also the first time in the 25-year history of boys golf at Windsor that a team finished in the top two at state. Windsor entered Tuesday’s round in fifth place and improved 17 strokes to capture runner-up. Paiz shot 71-67 (138; 2-under), freshman Kellen Ball finished in a tie for 19th with scores of 79-71 (150; 10-over), junior Carter Hinkle concluded his third state tournament with a score of 81-76 (157; 17-over) to tie for 36th and in his second state event, junior Landon Ball tied for 52nd with scores of 83-80 (163; 23-over). The entire Pelican Lakes and Windsor community is proud of these boys and coaches Kenny Anderson and Ryan Lococo for their character and accomplishments! Way to go Wizards!
