Congratulations to the Windsor High School boys’ golf team, which makes their home at Pelican Lakes, for qualifying all four players to the Class 4A state tournament. Today the Wizards finished third in the Region 3 tournament held at Highland Hills in Greeley. While they didn’t qualify as a team, since the top two teams from each region automatically gain entry into state, all four Windsor boys shot under the cut line of 81. Windsor’s team score was 235 (22-over), third behind regional champ Riverdale Ridge (231) and second place Niwot (233). Senior Brentyn Paiz and junior Landon Ball both shot 78 to tie for 7th, freshman Kellen Ball fired a 79 to tie for 9th and junior Carter Hinkle finished in a tie for 14th with an 81. This will be the third appearance at the Class 4A state event for Paiz and Hinkle, second for Landon Ball and first for Kellen Ball. Riverdale Ridge sophomore Aiden Sweeney’s even par round of 71 won the tournament by three strokes. This will be the third-straight season that Windsor competes at state as a team, and only the third time in the 25-year history of boys’ golf at Windsor that four players will tee it up in the final event of the year. Congratulations to the players and head coach Kenny Anderson, the Director of Player Development at Pelican Lakes, and assistant coach Ryan Lococo, a 2-time state qualifier for Windsor in the early 2010s. The Class 4A state tournament will be held Oct. 4-5 at City Park Golf Course in Denver. Today is a great day to be a Wizard!
