Parents and Players,
We have been given permission from the school to travel down to Colorado Springs on Friday evening for our away game against Sand Creek High School. Windsor High School will be providing accommodation for athletes and coaches. Girls will receive a room assignments with 3 of their teammates. We are currently working to insure that there is a female adult chaperone that will stay with the team on Friday evening. We will be providing a team dinner for all of the players that travel on the bus on Friday night, and breakfast is included with our accommodations on Saturday morning.
Quality Inn North
They have agreed to offer parents a rate of $85 for a double queen and $80 for a king room if you call the number shown above. Right now - - if parents have an account with choice hotels (choicehotels.com) and don't mind paying the "Pay Now & Save non-refundable rate", they can get a rate of $80 (Double Queen) and $72 (King). (This rate can change at any time).
While we are not able to provide accommodation for families that want to travel with the team on Friday evening you are welcome to join us in traveling down that evening. As always we thank you for the support you offer the team at all of our away games. If anyone is interested in volunteering as a non-coach chaperone this is greatly appreciated.
If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to reach out to Coach Garcia or Coach Ernst.
Parents and Players,
Practice for Wednesday 3/28 has been canceled due to inclement weather. Athletes should use this day to catch up on schoolwork, completing fundraiser requirements if needed, and recovery. We suggest stretching and rolling at home. Please be sure to rest and drink lots of water. We will resume regularly scheduled training tomorrow.
Team pictures are scheduled for Wednesday 3/7 at 4:30 pm. Both teams will be wearing their Maroon away uniforms (Socks, Shorts, Socks). Each player is required to participate in taking pictures both as a team and as an individual, however it is not required that they be purchased.
The coaches would like to thank all parents and players for a successful preseason and tryouts. While we have a lot of hard work ahead of us we feel the teams are ready to make it another great Windsor soccer season. Here are a few things to be aware of as players, parents, and fans.
We have a team store set up through Garretson's sports of Greeley where you can purchase your Windsor girls soccer gear. The items will only be available for a limited time so please get your orders in as soon as possible. Please follow the link below to check it out.
Uniforms will be assigned to players on Friday 3/2 for both Varsity and JV players. Each player will sign a uniform agreement and will be provided with home and away jerseys, shorts, a jacket, warm-up pants, and a bag. Players will be responsible for damaged or lost uniform pieces at the end of the season.
Not included in the uniform are socks. Each player is required to have at least one pair of home(white) and away(maroon) socks. Socks can be purchased through the coaches for $8.00 a piece. In addition we have made several pieces of equipment available through the team store including warm up pants, sweatshirts, jackets and field player gloves.
In addition we have recommended a turf souled soccer shoe. Many soccer organizations and medical professionals are recommending that soccer players use a specialized shoe on artificial surfaces. A large portion of our Varsity and JV games will be played on turf fields. While it is not a requirement we wanted to make a cheaper turf shoe available which may help prevent unwanted injuries.
Away games require the teams to leave prior to school ending and the players are not given the opportunity to get much needed food before games. We like to provide a small and healthy meal option for every player. As we have in years past, this year we will provide each player with a 6 inch subway sandwich.(Turkey, veggies and Cheese) Each player will need to provide $20.00 to cover their sandwich costs for all away games this season.
The power point presentation fromt he Parent/Player meeting has been added to the documents section of the team website.
Parents and Players,
We will use the app Teams by Maxpreps as a realtime means to keep players updated with last minute changes to schedule, practice and other events. It is convenient in that it is synced with Maxpreps so players stats, game schedule and such is all in one place. Parents who log in are immediately asked to sync with their athlete so we are all on the same page.
Once rosters are finalized, there may be some changes to how the players are displayed and on what team but that will be sorted out when that time comes. For now, it is a quick way to know if there are any changes and parents can also use to communicate with coaches.
Again, Registration is fast approaching. Please complete physicals asap. Registration must be completed before Feb 21 and begins online on Feb. 10th.
If you have any questions feel free to contact me.
Traditionally, soccer seasons run through late fall and into the colder winter months. While our season begins in the spring, Windsor soccer fans are no strangers to cold temperatures and snowy games. Supporters sitting in the stands must choose between staying warm and supporting our Wizards. Enter the classic soccer scarf. For generations soccer scarves have been worn in cold winter temperatures or on any occasion to claim allegiance for your side.
We are thrilled to offer Windsor soccer scarves as fan gear for this year. The scarves have been specially designed for Windsor soccer with team colors and logos, the year of our inaugural season, and a team motto. We are also excited to present this team motto. Read in Latin, "Omnes Ante Unam" means All Before One. If you've been to a Windsor girls soccer game before you've undoubtedly heard the team cheer "Together", prior to, during, and after a game. It has long been our ethos that our success can only come from working together. Not just as players, but as coaches, fans, students, and community, your support is paramount to the team's success. The Windsor Wizards girls soccer team is the sum of all of its parts and together we start what will be the most successful and exciting year ever.
Unlike our other spirit gear all proceeds from scarf sales go directly to the girls soccer program. Scarves can be purchased from Coach Joe for $25 for one, or $20 each if you buy more than one. As always we thank you for your support and look forward to the upcoming season.
2018 Girls Soccer Sports Registration!
Spring sports registration is from February 10-21. If an athlete has already played a fall or winter sport, the athlete only needs to update their physical if needed, pay their $75 sports fee, and pick up their sports permit from Mrs. Legino between February 10-21.
As part of our tryout process players will be completing the The Gauntlet fitness test. This is a test that is used by many college programs. While the standards shown are for college DI soccer players, we will lower that standard to what I believe is appropriate for our High School program and expectations.
It will be good to try to achieve DI standards for those of you aspiring to challenge yourselves even more but the HS standards will be a appropriately lower.
You are expected to pass 4 of 5 standards as part of the tryout. Passing or failing the expectation in this physical fitness assessment will ONLY be part of the overall tryout assessment and will have an impact on which team if any a player makes. Use the standards below to start a training program and set goals for the 2018 season.
This test is performed on a running track. The standard times are for a Division I level Women’s Soccer Team Times in bold are for our team and moderately slower.
